Colossians 1

(1) Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy the brother, (2) to the holy ones and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: grace to you and peace from God our Father.

(3) We give thanks to God, the Father of our lord Jesus Christ, always praying concerning you, (4) having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the holy ones, (5) because of the hope being laid up for you in the heavens, which you previously heard in the word of the truth, the gospel, (6) which has come to you, just as it is also bearing fruit and growing in all the world, just as also in you, from the day you heard and recognized the grace of God in truth; (7) just as you learned from Epaphras, our beloved co-slave, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, (8) who also made known to us your love in the spirit.

(9) For this reason, we also, from the day we heard, do not cease praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, (10) to walk worthily of the lord, pleasing him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God, (11) being empowered with all power according to the might of His glory for all endurance and patience with joy, (12) giving thanks to the Father who made you sufficient for the share of the lot of the holy ones in the light, (13) who rescued us from the authority of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the son of His love, (14) in whom we have the redemption — the forgiveness of sins.

(15) Who is the image of the invisible God, firstborn of all creation, (16) because in him were created all things in the heavens and upon the earth, the visible and the invisible — whether thrones or lordships or rulers or authorities — all things through him and into him have been created. (17) And he is before all things, and all things in him have stood together. (18) And he is the head of the body, the assembly; who is the beginning, firstborn from the dead, so that he himself might become preeminent in all things. (19) Because in him all the fullness was well pleased to dwell, (20) and through him to reconcile all things into him, having made peace through the blood of his cross — through him, whether the things upon the earth or the things in the heavens.

(21) And you, at one time being estranged and enemies in the mind, in evil works, (22) He has now reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, so that he might present you holy and blameless and unreprovable before Him, (23) if indeed you continue in the faith, having been founded and firm and not being moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, having been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

(24) Now I rejoice in the sufferings on behalf of you, and I fill up in my flesh the lacks of the afflictions of the Christ, on behalf of his body, which is the assembly, (25) of which I became a minister, according to the stewardship of God given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, (26) the mystery having been hidden from the ages and from the generations, but now it was revealed to His holy ones, (27) to whom God willed to make known what is the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you, the hope of the glory; (28) whom we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, so that we may present every man perfect in Christ; (29) for which also I labor, struggling according to His energy being energized in me in power.

Colossians 2

(1) For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on behalf of you and of those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, (2) so that their hearts may be comforted, having been knit together in love, and into all the wealth of the full assurance of understanding, into the knowledge of the mystery of God: Christ, (3) in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, hidden. (4) This I say so that no one may deceive you with persuasive speech. (5) For even though in the flesh I am absent, yet in the spirit I am with you, rejoicing and seeing your order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

(6) As therefore you received the Christ, Jesus the lord, walk in him, (7) having been rooted and being built up in him and being established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (8) Watch out, lest anyone lead you away as booty through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ.

(9) Because in him dwells all the fullness of the deity bodily, (10) and you are in him, having been filled; he is the head of all rule and authority. (11) In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the stripping off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of the Christ, (12) having been co-buried with him in baptism, in which also you were co-raised through faith in the working of God, the one who raised him from the dead. (13) And you, being dead in the transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh — He made you alive together with him, having graciously forgiven us all the transgressions, (14) having wiped out the hand-written document against us in the decrees, which was contrary to us; and He has taken it out of the midst, having nailed it to the cross. (15) Having stripped off the rulers and the authorities, He made a public spectacle of them in boldness, having led them in triumph in it.

(16) Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, or in respect of a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, (17) which are a shadow of the coming things, but the body is the Christ’s. (18) Let no one disqualify you, delighting in humility and worship of angels, entering into the things which he has seen, vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh, (19) and not holding the head, from whom all the body, being supplied and being knit together through the joints and ligaments, grows with the growth of God.

(20) If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as living in the world, are you being regulated by decrees? (21) “Do not handle, nor taste, nor touch,” (22) which are all for corruption through use, according to the commandments and teachings of men — (23) which indeed have a word of wisdom in will-worship and humility and severity of the body, but not in any honor for the satisfaction of the flesh.

Colossians 3

(1) If therefore you were co-raised with the Christ, seek the things above, where the Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. (2) Set your mind on the things above, not the things upon the earth. (3) For you died, and your life has been hidden with the Christ in God. (4) When the Christ — your life — is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

(5) Put to death therefore the members upon the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry, (6) because of which the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience, (7) in which you also walked at one time, when you were living in these things. (8) But now you also put off all these things: wrath, anger, malice, slander, filthy speech from your mouth. (9) Do not lie to one another, having stripped off the old man with his practices, (10) and having put on the new man, the one being renewed into knowledge according to the image of the One who created him; (11) where there is no Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free, but all things and in all, Christ.

(12) Put on therefore, as chosen ones of God, holy and beloved, hearts of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, (13) bearing with one another and graciously forgiving one another; if anyone has a complaint against anyone, just as the lord graciously forgave you, so also you. (14) And upon all these things, love, which is the bond of perfection. (15) And let the peace of the Christ arbitrate in your hearts, into which you were also called in one body; and become thankful. (16) Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, in grace, singing in your hearts to God. (17) And everything, whatever you do, in word or in work, do all things in the name of the lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

(18) Wives, be subject to the husbands, as is fitting in the lord. (19) Husbands, love the wives, and do not be bitter toward them. (20) Children, obey the parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in the lord. (21) Fathers, do not provoke your children, so that they may not be discouraged. (22) Slaves, obey in all things the masters according to flesh, not in eye-service as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing the lord. (23) Whatever you do, work from the soul, as to the lord and not to men, (24) knowing that from the Lord you will receive the recompense of the inheritance; to the lord Christ you serve. (25) For the one doing wrong will receive what he did wrong, and there is no partiality.

Colossians 4

(1) Masters, provide what is just and equal to the slaves, knowing that you also have a Lord in heaven. (2) Continue earnestly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving, (3) praying at the same time also concerning us, that God may open to us a door of the word, to speak the mystery of the Christ, because of which also I have been bound, (4) that I may make it manifest, as it is necessary for me to speak. (5) Walk in wisdom toward the outsiders, buying up the time. (6) Let your word always be in grace, seasoned with salt, to know how it is necessary for you to answer each one.

(7) Tychicus will make known to you all the things concerning me — the beloved brother and faithful minister and co-slave in the lord — (8) whom I sent to you for this very thing, that you may know the things concerning us and he may encourage your hearts, (9) with Onesimus, the faithful and beloved brother, who is from you; they will make known to you all the things here. (10) Aristarchus, my co-prisoner, greets you, and Mark, the cousin of Barnabas, concerning whom you received instructions; if he comes to you, receive him. (11) And Jesus who is called Justus — those of the circumcision; these alone are co-workers for the kingdom of God, who became a comfort to me. (12) Epaphras, who is from you, a slave of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on behalf of you in the prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God. (13) For I testify to him that he has much labor on behalf of you and of those in Laodicea and of those in Hierapolis. (14) Luke, the beloved physician, greets you, and Demas. (15) Greet the brothers in Laodicea and Nympha and the assembly at her house. (16) And when the letter has been read among you, arrange that it also be read in the assembly of the Laodiceans, and that you also read the one from Laodicea. (17) And say to Archippus: “See the ministry which you received in the lord, that you may fulfill it.” (18) The greeting by my hand, of Paul. Remember my chains. The grace be with you.
